Bollywood star Salman Khan’s Race 3 box office collection took a major dip, making a total of Rs 142.01 crore (over $20m) at the box office in just six days, according to the Hindustan Times.
With the Thursday collection, it is expected to earn over Rs 150 crore ($22m).
Khan, along with co-stars Jacqueline Fernandez and Daisy Shah, made a special video message to thank fans for Race 3’s fantastic earnings, according to the report.
The video was taken when Salman -- along with Katrina Kaif, Jacqueline Fernandez, Daisy Shah, Sonakshi Sinha and others -- left for the next leg of Da-bangg: The Tour Reloaded. The actor thanked his fans for all the love and appreciation on the video.
Directed by Remo D’Souza, Race 3 became the highest opener of 2018, toppling Tiger Shroff’s Baaghi 2 with over $3.6m and Deepika Padukone’s Padmaavat close to $2.8m.
The movie is also Salman’s fourth one to cross the Rs 100-crore mark ($14.6m) in three days, after Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Sultan and Tiger Zinda Hai.
Race 3 released across 4,200 screens in India and is also Salman’s second highest weekend opener in the last eight years; Sultan earned Rs 180.36 crore ($26.4m) in three days after the release.
This is the third in the franchise and the previous two films were directed by Abbas-Mustan. However, Remo D’Souza hasdirected the latest move which is about a feud within a family of notorious arms dealers.
Race 3 is an internationally mounted saga of a family that deals in borderline crime but is ruthless and vindictive to the core.
A world with twists and turns at every turn, this move will take the audience by surprise with its sheer unpredictability. When Shamsher (Anil Kapoor) entrusts Sikandar (Salman Khan) with a high stakes heist along with the family for support, what could possibly go wrong?
