Taliban threats have forced more than 80 families to flee their homes in the eastern Nooristan province to the central Panjshir province

These families have claimed that Taliban have warned them to leave the province soon, otherwise they will face severe punishments, said ISAF media office in Bagram airfield.

These families have reached Panjshir province after four long days of walking.

The governor of Nooristan has denied claims by these residents.

Taliban had put 150 houses on fire after taking control of Barg-e-Matal district on July, 24 this year.

Meanwhile, the governor of Nooristan, Jamaluddin Baddar, told TOLOnews that 35 Taliban insurgents have been killed in joint operations conducted by Afghan and foreign forces in Barg-e-Matal district on Sunday night.

Two Afghan national army soldiers were killed and eight others were wounded in the attacks, he added.

The governor of Nooristan said operations are still continuing in the province, a claim denied by the Taliban.

More than 4000 families have been displaced after clashes between Afghan forces and Taliban insurgents in the province in the past one month.

The district has frequently come under Taliban attacks in the past one week.

Barg-e-Matal district came under Taliban control for 24 hours after 700 Afghan and Pakistani insurgents attacked the district last week.
