At least two Taliban commanders, including ten others were killed in clashes with Afghan and coalition forces Friday afternoon in the western Farah province

In the first attack, 7 Taliban militants, including two of their commanders were killed in NATO air-strikes in the province.

The attack occurred in the province's Pusht Road district after NATO forces spotted a Taliban vehicle in the region, Faqir Ahmad Askar, the Police Chief of Farah told TOLOnews.

All the Taliban militants in the car, including two of their leaders, Mullah Malik and Mullah Joma Khan, were killed, he added.

Meanwhile five Taliban insurgents were killed and two Afghan police soldiers were wounded in clashes in Purchaman district of Farah province.

The clashes continued from Friday morning till night in one of the villages of the district, leaving 5 dead on the Taliban's side, and wounding two Afghan police soldiers, Askar added.

A number of Taliban militants were also wounded during the fighting, but no exact figures are reported so far, he added.

Afghan and coalition forces have escalated their counter-insurgency operations in Afghanistan's unstable areas to wipe out Taliban insurgents and maintain security during the upcoming Afghan parliamentary elections.
