
Four Afghan children were killed yesterday when a bomb exploded near their play ground, local officials said.
The incident occurred at around 9:30 am when a roadside bomb exploded in eastern Nangarhar province, provincial spokesman said.
"Four children were killed and six others were slightly injured as a result of roadside bomb explosion, the incident happened at around 09:30 am local time," Ahmad Zia Abdulzai, a spokesman for provincial government said.
Meanwhile, the officials from Ministry of Interior Affairs have said that the explosion was caused by a mortar apparently left over from Afghanistan's decades of war.
Nangarhar is bordered by Pakistan and has witnessed violence since the start of US anti terror campaign in Afghanistan.
