As many as 53 school girls were poisoned in northern Sar-e- Pol province Saturday, local officials said.
The incident occurred in Chahar Bagh Secondary school in the capital of the province today and they taken in a nearby hospital in the city, the 303 Pamir Police Zone in northern Afghanistan spokesman Lal Mohammad Ahmadzai said.
The girls are aged between 7 and 18. Police have started investigation about the incident, he said.
According to local officials, in the past two weeks more than 300 hundreds schools girls poisoned in the province.
No group has been claimed responsibility for the incident.
Previously the Afghan government have claimed that the Taliban are behind the schools girls poisoning, but the Taliban has rejected the claimed.
