News - Afghanistan

The Iranian Foreign Ministry on Saturday summoned the Afghan charge d'affaires to protest the murder of an Iranian girl by an Afghan national in the central Yazd province and recent "media hype" about Iran's treatment of refugees, reports said.

The Afghan diplomat, Shah Mardanqol, condemned the murder of the Iranian girl and called on the Afghan Embassy to fulfill its duty to inform Afghan nationals about Iranian laws.

Mardanqol also expressed his regret about the incident.

The Afghan diplomat also censured certain Afghan officials who had claimed that Iran's judicial dealing with the offense was in violation of international law.
