Three Afghan security forces and six Taliban insurgents were killed in a clash in southeastern Nimruz province on Friday night, local officials said.

Three other security troops were injured in the incident, provincial police chief Haji Musa Rasouli said.

The clash took place in Delaram district when insurgents attacked a bazaar in the district and security forces responded.

"The clash continued for several hours as the Taliban insurgents were wanting the attack to force the district governor compound to surrender," he said.

There were no civilians casualties during the clash and the injured security soldiers are being treated at a nearby hospital in the district, Rasouli said.

Afghan forces seized many weapons from the insurgents following the incident, he added.
