An Afghan policeman was killed and another was wounded while attempting to defuse a roadside bomb in southern Uruzgan province on Wednesday, local officials said.
The incident happened in the Charmestan area of Tarin Kot, Uruzgan's provincial capital of Uruzgan province, provincial police spokesman, Farid Hayel said.
"Enemies placed the mine in the area to target Afghan security forces," Mr Hayel said. "The injured policeman was taken to a nearby hospital."
Insurgents frequently use Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) to attack Afghan and Nato troops in the country.
