insurgents trained in Pakistan are attempting to secure the northern border between Afghanistan and Pakistan, the Northern Border Police Chief General Abdul Khalil Sayed Khili said Thursday.

However, Sayed Khili praised the Afghan border police saying that 90 per cent are professionally trained to prevent the smuggling of weapons and
narcotics.

Meanwhile, recently, over 800 Afghanistan National Army (ANA) soldiers graduated from the 207 Zafar ANA Corps in western Herat province.

The participating soldiers received 8 weeks training and learned to use light and heavy weaponry.

207 Zafar ANA Corps Commander Taj Mohammad Jahid said that the security forces are ready to take responsibility of western provinces in the next transition between NATO and Afghan forces.
