Trucks of Nato supplies crossed from Pakistan into Afghanistan on Thursday, ending the seven-month closure of the supply lines between the two countries.

The Associated Press reported the first truck crossed the border as Pakistani network Geo TV said more than 135 containers were leaving Karachi today for Afghanistan.

An Iranian man was arrested in Afghanistan's western Herat province on Thursday in possession of 59 kg of narcotics, officials said.

Herat Provincial Police Chief Sayed Aqa Saqib said counter narcotics police arrested the man as he was attempting to cross the border into Iran.

Ten people were killed and more than 100 were injured by the massive explosions at the HaidarZada Oil and Gas Company in Kabul Wednesday, the Afghan Ministry of Interior (MOI) said Thursday.

The MOI said in a statement that "police have started investigating yesterday's gas explosion at a private company named Haidarzada which killed ten and injured more than 100."
