European Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday opened its branch in the Afghan capital, Kabul to expand Afghan economic ties with European countries.

The European Chamber of Commerce and Industries is planning to promote Afghan products in European markets and also persuade European investors to make investments in Afghanistan.

An Afghan melody was played with a European musical instrument in the opening ceremony of the European Chamber of Commerce and Industries in Kabul.

The Chamber has also promised to help Afghans by providing loans and teach them standard packing so that Afghan products can find better markets in Europe and other parts of the world.

Head of European Chamber of Commerce and Industries, Mushref, said the Chamber will also facilitate visa issuance for Afghan traders and establish their contact with European banks.

Meanwhile, the Afghan Ministry of Commerce and Industries has said while Europe has assisted Afghanistan in different fields, it is also important that the private sector in Afghanistan is supported.

"We hope that Europe helps the private sector in addition to assistance that it provides to the Afghan government," Minister of Commerce, Anwar-ul-Haq Ahadi said.

The Afghan Chamber of Commerce and Industries has also expressed optimism that Afghan exports to Europe will increase in the future.
