Armed Robbers Continue to Menace Kabul, People Call for Security

Police in Kabul claim they have clashed two times with armed robbers in the past 24 hours. The city has witnessed several new security and criminal incidents during this period.

In the latest criminal incident, armed men killed a man in PD5 of Kabul. Hours before the incident, an IED exploded in PD11, wounding 4 Afghan police.

In this report, TOLOnews’ reporter Tamim Hamid has talked to a number of victims.

Shahram, 17, was killed brutally with a knife two days ago in PD2 of Kabul.

His family members say that he was killed brutally and the the motive is unclear.

“He was attacked 17 times with a knife,” said Abdul Fazel, the victim’s cousin.

“They must launch an investigation as soon as possible, perpetrators should be found and justice must prevail,” said Farid Tanha, the victim’s cousin.

Khadija is a resident of Kabul whose mobile phone was snatched by armed robbers weeks ago and she still feels the psychological impact of the incident.

“The same mental images that were created in me, for example, when I left home, I again felt them today and I wondered if I was going to lose my cell phone today,” said Khadija.

“We always remain concerned about whether we will be able to return home safely or not,” said Zholi, a resident in Kabul.

“This is shameful for the government that it cannot secure its capital,” said Sharafuddin, a resident in Kabul.

On Wednesday morning, armed robbers killed shot a man in Kabul.

“If this situation continues, our forex bazar will faces problems, our industry will face the same issue next and even the investment,” said Sakhi Ahmad Paiman, the head of Kabul Chamber of Mines and Industries.

On Tuesday night, police forces were attacked by unknown armed men in Wasel Abad in PD12 of Kabul and a firefight between the two sides left several police injured.

Later, police announced they had arrested five suspects.

On the same night, police also arrested four armed robbers in the Dehbori area of Kabul.
