Three Wounded in Faryab Car Bomb Explosion: Official

At least three policemen were wounded in a car bomb explosion in Qaisar district in the northern province of Faryab on Monday night, provincial governor Naqibullah Fayiq said.

The Taliban wanted to target the police headquarters of Qaisar district by an explosive-laden Humvee, but the vehicle was identified by security forces and was stopped before reaching its target, Fayiq said.

The explosion inflicted financial damages to the people, he said. 

Faryab police said the explosion happened in a market in Qaisar district after the Taliban’s attack on the district was repelled by security forces on Monday evening. 

Eyewitnesses said that dozens of shops have been damaged in the explosion.

The Taliban has not commented about the attack.
