Seven Civilians Killed in 'Taliban' Mortar Attack in Kunduz: MoD

At least seven civilians, including women and children, were killed and six more were wounded in a “Taliban” mortar attack in the northeastern city of Kunduz on Wednesday evening, the Ministry of Defense (MoD) said in a statement.  

The incident happened in Taloka area in the city of Kunduz where a mortar hit "civilian houses," the statement said. 

The statement did not provide further details. 

The Taliban has not commented about the incident.  

Recently, Imam Sahib, Dasht-e-Archi district and the city of Kunduz witnesses heavy clashes between the Afghan security forces and the Taliban. 

Violence remains high in the country despite ongoing peace efforts in Doha. Afghan and foreign officials have said the level of violence in the country is anacceptable.
