Hakim Dalali Afghan Ambassador to Qatar Laid to Rest

Abdul Hakim Dalili, Afghan ambassador in Qatar, who passed away due to heart attack on Tuesday was laid to rest in Kabul on Friday.

President Ashraf Ghani, who attended Dalili’s funeral, called him a patriot and said he had a key role in ensuring Kabul-Doha relations and holding the first round of the peace talks.

“He was a courageous person. He was a person with dignity,” said Abdul Rab Rasul Sayyaf, a former mujahedeen leader.

“He shouldered his responsibilities with full faith,” Foreign Affairs Minister Mohammad Haneef Atmar said.

Chief negotiator Masoom Stanekzai said the Afghan negotiating team is preparing for the next round of the talks.

“We don’t want to hide anything from Afghans because the people will be benefited from peace ultimately,” Stanekzai said.

Hakim Dalili had graduated from engineering faculty of Qatar University and started his work in the embassy last July.

Dalili was born in Ghazni province in 1972.
