Officials Reject Hekmatyar’s Claim on ‘Anonymous Planes’

Officials at Hamid Karzai International Airport in Kabul rejected the claim by Hizb-e-Islami leader Gulbuddin Hekmatyar, who said anonymous planes are involved in the illegal transfer of gold and money at the airport.

Addressing a gathering on Friday, Hekmatyar said some “anonymous” planes land and take off “repeatedly” at the Hamid Karzai International Airport in Kabul and are provided “special security measures, not by the airport security guards, but by other sources.”

Head of the airport, Sayed Omar Saboor, said Hekmatyar should provide evidence for his claims.

Saboor said the detectors at the airport “have not shown any anonymous flight in Afghanistan’s airspace at Hamid Karzai Airport.”

He assured that the security of the airport is ensured by multiple companies and that there are no chances of illegal transfer of gold or money.

“Unscheduled planes cannot operate there against our norms of aviation at any cost,” Saboor reiterated.

Hekmatyar called on the Afghan parliament to launch an investigation into the matter.
