The Ministry of Defense has vowed revenge for the attack on an Afghan Air Force helicopter by a local militia commander Alipoor who has admitted that his men had downed the chopper in Maidan Wardak province.
Nine security personnel, including two pilots and four special forces members, were killed in the incident, according to the Ministry of Defense.
Sources said that four army helicopters were supplying Afghan forces in Behsud district, Maidan Wardak province, early after midnight on Thursday, but one of them was attacked and was downed.
Fawad Aman, a spokesman for Defense Ministry, said that based on their investigation and evidence, the Afghan Air Force helicopter “was attacked by Alipoor’s militia in Behsud district.”
“The Ministry of Defense will revenge for the attack at any cost,” he said.
Meanwhile, TOLOnews has obtained a video that shows the moment an army helicopter was downed in Maidan Wardak province last week.
A senior security source tells TOLOnews that the helicopter was attacked by a laser-guided weapon by militias loyal to Alipoor in Behsud district.
