Burials in Logar, Kabul for 5 Family Members Killed in Blast

Five members of one family, who were killed in a roadside explosion in the Chahar Asiab district in Kabul province, were laid to rest in Kabul and Logar on Monday.

The victims’ families said that their relatives were on their way to Lalandar valley in Chahar Asiab district when their vehicle was targeted by a roadside bomb.

Ehsanullah, 32, Mujahid, 30, Zubair, 28, Wais, 17, and Ilham, 7 years old, were the five members of one family who were in the vehicle when the blast occurred.

“I ask God to remove them. They destroyed us,” Zainullah, father of one of the victims, said.

“All of them were civilians. They were martyred. They went to celebrate Nawroz festival,” said Abdul Jabbar, a family member.

Two of the victims were members of the public uprising forces and one of them was an employee of the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum.

Their relatives blamed terrorist groups for the incident and the government for inattention to the security of the people.

“They should have mercy on our youth and children. What is their sin?” said Ehsanullah, a relative of the victims.

“The enemies of Islam should stop their action. They should not mourn again,” said Mawlawi Shamim Salim, a religious scholar.

It was the first and deadliest incident on the first day of the new solar year in Afghanistan, and it comes amid growing concerns about a high level of violence in the country.

“The warring sides said they are not responsible, but we know that those who fuel violence are responsible,” said Zia Yaftali, an MP.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
