Explosion reported in an area containing gas facilities in the city of Herat early on Friday morning.

The explosions have caused a “huge fire,” local officials said.

Officials said that efforts are underway to distinguish the fire that has happened in the Kamarkulagh area in the city of Herat.

Herat governor's spokesman Jailani Farhad said the fire happened due to "recklessness" by those responsible to run the facility. 

The incident comes after a huge fire in the border town of Islam Qala border in Herat in February. The fire "inflicted hundreds of millions of dollars" in financial damage to investors, according to the private sector representatives in Herat.
