Herat: 2 Soldiers Wounded in Suicide Attack on Outpost

At least two soldiers were wounded in a car bomb attack on a security outpost in western Herat province on Monday morning, said Waheed Qatali, provincial governor.

The incident occurred in Shindand district on Monday morning as a car full of explosive detonated close to a security outpost, Qatali said.

“After the car bomb, clashes continued between the security forces and Taliban, during which two soldiers were wounded,” he said.

However, he did not provide further details about the clashes.

In the meantime, Gen. Abdul Rouf Arghandiwal, commander of the 207th Zafar military corps, said a "Humvee vehicle full of explosives has been destroyed before it reached its target.”

“At least 17 Taliban were killed and more than 10 others were wounded in the past 24 hours during clashes in Shindand,” he said.

He did not provide details about possible casualties in the clashes.

The Taliban has not yet commented on the attacks.
