A coal mine collapsed in northern Baghlan province on Tuesday morning, leaving five miners dead, a spokesman for the provincial police chief, Jawid Basharat said.

The incident happened in Nahrin district of the province. “The miners were busy at work and a part of the mine collapsed,” Basharat said.

“The body of (one) miner was pulled out and efforts are ongoing to recover the four other bodies,” he said.

However, he did not provide further details about the incident.
