Residents Protest NDS Raid That Killed 5 People

At least five people were killed in an operation by the National Directorate of Security (NDS) forces in Deh Yahya village in Deh Sabz district, east of the city of Kabul, sources said.

The operation was slammed by residents of the village who claimed that "innocent" were killed in the raid.

Dozens of people from the area held a rally in front of the district governor's office while carrying the coffins of those who claimed were killed in the operation.

Security officials have not commented so far.

“Ashraf Ghani, Amrullah Saleh, for God sake, address the plight of the people in Deh Yahya, otherwise, we will go to the mountain,” said Sayed Ahmad Shah, brother of one of the victims.

“They were thieves, they didn’t behave like government. They killed my brother and slapped my father,” said Safiullah, brother of a victim.

“At 6:00am when the family went out to bring wood, they saw that he was martyred,” said Dad-e-Khuda, a relative of one of the men killed in the operarion.

Meanwhile, armed men loyal to MP Allah Gul Mujahid were deployed around Deh Sabz.

“I will arm you even if it cost my life and we will stand against the oppression,” said MP Allah Gul Mujahid.

The raid was conducted on the house of local elder Sayed Mahboob who was killed along with his son. The other two sons of Sayed Mahboob serve in the Ministry of Interior Affairs.

“The coordination report was wrong. They (NDS) swiftly acted and committed this crime,” said Sayed Ahmad Shah, brother of Sayed Mahmood who was killed in the raid.

Residents of the area said that the security forces conducted operation on four houses including the house of Haji Ehsan.

Ehsan’s family members said that the security forces arrested him, but they found his body the next morning near their home.

The NDS and the Ministry of Interior did not comment on the raid. But Deh Sabz district governor said that the operation was carried out without any coordination.
