At least one person was killed and seven others were wounded on Saturday in an explosion in Jalalabad, the capital of Nangarhar province.
Eyewitnesses said the blast was due to a mine placed in a street vase.
Provincial hospital officials said one person was killed and seven others were wounded and all were transferred to the hospital. They did not give any details about the identity of those killed and wounded.
Those wounded said the explosion happened when a Taliban forces vehicle was crossing the street.
Local officials have not been reached for comment.
Eyewitnesses said civilians and Taliban members are among those wounded.
The explosion comes as over the last two days eight bodies have been found in different areas of Jalalabad city.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
