Kunduz Mosque Attack Victims Buried in Groups

Most of victims of the suicide attack that targeted worshippers in a mosque in Kunduz city on Friday were buried in groups on Saturday.

Officials said that 46 people were killed and over 143 others wounded while some members of the Shia Ulema said nearly 120 worshippers were killed and 160 others injured.

The mass burial of most of the victims took place on Saturday in Kunduz city.

Farid, a resident of Kunduz, said he has lost four relatives in the attack. “Four people have been martyred from one family,” he said.

“In yesterday’s attack over 100 people were killed. My cousin was also martyred,” said Baryalai, a Kunduz resident.

The suicide attack targeted a mosque belonging to the Shia religious community. Some Shia religious scholars said nearly 120 people were killed in the attack.

“As per our information about the bodies brought to cemeteries, around 120 people were martyred and around 160 others were injured,” said Imam Razavi, a religious scholar.

The victims’ families said they want security and do not want their loved ones to be killed in such attacks.

Daesh has claimed responsibility for the attack.
