25 Daesh affiliates surrendered to the Islamic Emirate through the mediation of tribal elders in the eastern province of Nangarhar, provincial officials said on Saturday.  

The head of the Nangarhar intelligence department, Dr. Basheer, said that these Daesh fighters were active in various parts of the province.  

The surrendered Daesh fighters were granted amnesty by the order of Mullah Hibatullah Akhundzada, the supreme leader of the Islamic Emirate.  

“Today 25 members of Daesh surrendered to the Islamic Emirate,” Dr. Basheer said. “In total 250 Daesh affiliates surrendered to the Islamic Emirate in over the past two months. They have been pardoned and they don’t fight against us anymore. If they act against their commitments, they will be punished.”  

The tribal elders said the villagers would set fire to the homes of those who broke their commitments.  

“We took an oath from the surrendered Daesh members that they will not carry out destructive actions. If they try to bother the people and create insecurity or fight against the Islamic Emirate, their houses will be set on fire and they will be kicked out of the country,” said Nasir Momand, a tribal elder.  

The surrenderers said that they wanted to continue their normal living.  

“We were previously carrying out actions against the Taliban but now the Islamic Emirate give us amnesty and we came and surrendered to them. We regret our actions that we performed in the past,” said Ziauddin, a surrendered member of Daesh.   

Daesh has claimed responsibility for several attacks in Nangarhar. However, the Islamic Emirate downplays the threat of Daesh in Afghanistan.
