India to Host Meeting on Afghanistan

India is planning to hold a high-level meeting of regional countries over the situation in Afghanistan late this week, Indian media reported.

Russia, Iran and Central Asian countries expressed readiness to attend the conference, but Pakistan reportedly is not interested in participating, according to the report.

The Islamic Emirate is hopeful that regional meetings focus on helping the people of Afghanistan.

“The rights of the Afghans should be ensured. They should raise their voice about the frozen assets of Afghanistan,” said Bilal Karimi, deputy spokesman for the Islamic Emirate on Saturday. “We welcome all the summits that aim to help Afghanistan.”

Earlier, Moscow and Tehran held a regional summit to discuss Afghanistan’s situation and “border threats”.

“We should lobby through these meetings to assure the region and world that the Islamic Emirate, which currently rules, has plans and doesn’t pose problems and harm to others,” said Qaribullah Sadat, a political analyst.

What will be discussed at the India meeting?

“We, the people of Afghanistan, are isolated from this meeting,” said Toriq Farhadi, an international relations expert. “It would be better that the government soon fulfill the promises it made to form an inclusive government, so the Afghan government would be recognized by the world and no meeting would be held in the absence of an Afghan delegation.”

The meeting in India is expected to be attended by national security advisers of the participating nations.
