China: US Undermines Regional and Intl Security

The Chinese foreign ministry criticized the United States' interference in the affairs of other countries, saying the US is trying to destabilize some countries.

Wang Wenbin, spokesman for the Chinese foreign ministry, in his regular press conference said America is taking steps to undermine regional and international security and that it is a proven fact that the US brings turmoil and chaos instead of stability by selling its democracy to other countries.

“The US tries to justify its interference in other countries' internal affairs and its moves undermining regional and international security in the name of human rights and democracy,” said Wang Wenbin.

Earlier reports were released that China is seeking to create a military base in Bagram airport, and the Ministry of Defense (MoD) said that the Islamic Emirate will not agree with the military presence of a country inside Afghanistan.

“There is no foreign presence now in Afghanistan and will not be, and the Islamic Emirate will never provide such opportunity for the military presence of any country,” said Enayatullah Khwarazmi, a spokesman for the MoD.

Afghan political analysts comment on the issue: “The US invested in Afghanistan for 20 years, and it is not interested in regional superpowers like China and Russia working with the Taliban or current rulers of Afghanistan,” said Jawid Sangdil, a political analyst.

“Rivalry of regional countries and superpowers will not benefit Afghanistan, and will bring more loss to the people of Afghanistan,” said Zaher Salangi, a former MP.

China is constantly reacting to the US. In the last week, China’s foreign ministry criticized the Pentagon’s findings regarding the US drone strike that killed civilians in late August in Kabul, saying “Afghan lives matter.”

The Chinese foreign ministry further said: “We urge the US side to respect the lives and human rights of the Afghan people, disclose the truth of the incident to the public, bring perpetrators to justice and offer compensation to the family members of the victims.”
