Amir Khan Muttaqi, the acting foreign minister, along with a high-ranking delegation of the Islamic Emirate left Kabul on Wednesday to meet Pakistani officials including Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi.
Amir Khan Muttaqi will discuss Kabul-Islamabad relations, the economy, transit and as well as refugee issues with the Pakistani side.
The Islamic Emirate officials said that Muttaqi will meet his Pakistani counterpart, Shah Mahmood Quraishi, after arriving in Islamabad. Facilitating people and traders’ movement was discussed between the two foreign ministers.
“Transit and Economic issues will be discussed. Traders’ problems and as well (de facto) border crossing problems will be addressed,” said Zabihullah Mujahid, spokesman of the Islamic Emirate.
It is reported that a Troika meeting will be held on November 11 in Pakistan, and a number of Pakistani media reported that Amir Khan Muttaqi will meet representatives of China, Russia and United Sates on the sidelines of the Troika meeting.
“Amir Khan Mutaqqi is not a participant of the Troika meeting, but the participants of Troika will hold a separate meeting with Mutaqqi,” said Taher Khan, a Pakistani journalist.
The meeting will be attended by representatives of China, Russia, Pakistan, and the United States.
This is the first time since the collapse of the former government that a delegation of the Islamic Emirate is officially visiting Islamabad.
Acting Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi, and the ministers of Finance and Trade along with a working group have gone to Pakistan for a 3-day visit.
