Afghan PM Deputies Meet Uzbekistan Special Envoy

The prime minister’s deputies Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar and Abdul Salam Hanafi met with Esmatullah Ergashev, special representative of Uzbekistan’s president for Afghanistan, on Tuesday in Kabul.

The deputies each met Ergashev separately and discussed the expansion of ties between the two countries, joint economic and transit projects, the renewal of the contract for imported electricity, and the resumption of flights between the two states, said Inamullah Samangani, deputy spokesman of the Islamic Emirate.

“We have prepared the conditions for the expansion of cooperation between the two countries in different fields, and the relevant officials from both sides will continue to meet in order to reach agreements on these issues,” Baradar said.

The acting ministers for energy and water, economic and public works were also present at the meeting and talked about their respective activities related to joint economic and transit projects.

Hanafi said the Islamic Emirate wants to expand its relations with all the neighboring countries, especially with Uzbekistan.

He also added that no country will be threatened from the territory of Afghanistan.
