People around Afghanistan celebrated Eid-ul-Fitr festival after attending prayers on Sunday.
Afghans usually celebrate Eid by traveling to each other’s homes and visiting recreational places.
“Although this Eid is not as previous ones, still it is good to celebrate,” said Abubakr, a Kabul resident.
Meanwhile, a great number of Afghans face economic and financial challenges and say they cannot celebrate Eid in the usual way.
“Not many will go to someone’s home, many are struggling with poverty, so they will not be able to buy (fresh and dried fruits) for Eid,” said Mohammad Akbar, a resident.
A number of former officials, including former president Hamid Karzai and former HCNR chairman Abdullah Abdullah, as well as Islamic Emirate officials, made public statements for the arrival of Eid and called for the end of internal tensions in Afghanistan.
Former president Hamid Karzai in his Eid message once again stated his wish that secondary schools would open for girls.
Despite many Muslim countries announcing they would celebrate the first day of Eid on Monday, the Islamic Emirate-led government stated on late Saturday that it would celebrate Eid on Sunday.
