Statement Released from Afghan Politicians at Turkey Meeting

The Afghan politicians who recently met in Turkey released a statement saying that the establishment of a council will help change the current Afghan situation.

The meeting among the Afghan politicians was hosted by Marshal Abdul Rasheed Dostum and it was held under the title of “National Resistance of Rescuing Afghanistan”.

The statement read that the activities would be in two parts: “negotiations” and “military actions.”

“The planned activities of this front has two main parts: political and military. Undoubtedly, we prefer an enduring peace via politics,” the statement reads.

The meeting was also attended by Muhammad Mohaqiq, leader of the People’s Islamic Unity Party of Afghanistan; Ahmad Zia Masoud, former vice president; a representative of Salahuddin Rabani, former Minister of Foreign Affairs; Mir Rahman Rahmani, former speaker of the parliament; Abdul Hadi Arghandiwal, former Minister of Finance; and a representative of Mohammad Karim Khalili, leader of Hezb-e-Wahdat.

The meeting was held on Wednesday and is expected to last for several days.

“It could pose a very serious threat to the current security situation, and the Taliban must reconsider their policies,” said Wali Frozan, a political analyst.

“We Afghans suggest that all Afghan figures who think for the national interest of the country should come together peacefully and through a political community,” said Ahmad Khan Andar, a political analyst.

The current Afghan government said it is ready for talks with its opponents but warned against military actions.

“If it helps the peace and stability of Afghanistan, we have no problem, but what we know is that if they try to resort to military action and opposition, the Afghan people will not allow them,” Islamic Emirate’s Spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid said.

This comes as the Islamic Emirate said it will soon announce the activities of the “Commission for the Return and Communications with Former Afghan Officials and Political Figures."
