Haqqani Says Islamic Emirate is Open to “Everyone”

A senior member of the Islamic Emirate, Anas Haqqani, said that the Islamic Emirate is “open to everyone and India has also been invited and (it) has been conveyed that whatever stakes India has in Afghanistan can be reclaimed by it under the stable government of the Emirate.”

Haqqani made the remarks to CNN-News 18, according to the news outlet's website.

Haqqani urged India to reopen its embassy in Kabul and engage with the caretaker government of Afghanistan.

“We wish that India reopens its embassy and mingles with Afghan people in a friendly environment. The Emirate has no issue, and its doors are open; come and stay with us as old buddies,” said Haqqani, as quoted by CNN-News18.

Earlier, the head of the Islamic Emirate’s Qatar-based political office, Suhail Shaheen, said that the Islamic Emirate will provide security to the Indian diplomats if the country reopens its embassy in Kabul.

“It is better that the Taliban accept the conditions of the international community. When the international community recognizes the Taliban government… the diplomatic ties will be fixed and the issue will be solved,” said Aziz Maarij, a former diplomat.

Nearly 46 foreign embassies were active in Kabul during the time of the former government in Afghanistan, and more than 78 Afghan embassies and consulates were active in various countries.

An international relations analyst, Javid Sangdel, gave reasons for why many embassies are closed: “There are various reasons that many countries are not interested in reopening their embassies in Afghanistan, including the uncertain fate of Afghanistan, the distance of powerful countries from Afghanistan and especially the problems which are not solved with the US.”

Pakistan, Russia, China, Iran, Turkey, Qatar, UAE, Saudi Arabi, and Uzbekistan are the countries whose embassies are opened in Afghanistan, however no  international country has recognized the Afghan government.
