MoD Repairs Two Military Aircraft

Following reports of damage to a number of military aircraft during recent developments, Ministry of Defense officials now say that two aircraft have been repaired and are ready to fly again.

“All of our technical personnel are Afghans. We worked hard to activate two of the aircraft, one of which is the AN-32B and is a transport aircraft…,” said Mohammad Saddiq, the commander of the air force.

Challenges in the military transportation and logistics sector, according to Enayatullah Kharazmi, spokesman for the Ministry of Defense, will be solved with the repaired aircraft.

"We now have over 50 aircraft available, because of professional staff and in-house engineers," said Enayatullah Kharazmi, the spokesman for the Ministry of Defense.

According to the spokesman, the country's air force now has 50 aircraft on the ground.

Meanwhile, many military specialists believe that a government's priority should be to have an air force equipped with advanced military technology.

"A modern air force and technology actually maintain a country's balance of power in the region, particularly with its neighbors," said Hekmatullah Hekmat, a military expert.

More than 60 of the 164 active military aircraft were reportedly transferred to neighboring countries during the fall of Kabul last August.

The Islamic Emirate has consistently asked that Tajikistan and Uzbekistan return the country's aircraft, but the fate of the aircraft remains unclear.
