Abdullah Returns to Country After 43-Day Personal Visit to India

Former Chairman of the High Council for National Reconciliation, Abdullah Abdullah, arrived back in Kabul after more than a month of travel in India.

Talking to the reporters at the Kabul airport, the former reconciliation chairman said that he traveled to India to visit his family.

“I hope all Afghans live in a just, calm and good environment in the country” Abdullah said and called on the officials of the “caretaker government” to pay efforts in this regard.

Former President Hamid Karzai and Abdullah are the two top influential Afghan leaders who have not left the country after the collapse of the former government.

The Islamic Emirate has established a commission of “Return and Communications with Former Afghan Officials and Political Figures." Earlier, a spokesman for the commission said that many Afghan officials living abroad have filled out forms to return to the country.
