League of Traditional Sport Ghorsai to Air on TOLO, LEMAR TV

A league formed for competitors in the traditional sport of Ghorsai is due to be aired by TOLO and LEMAR TV channels.  

The competition of this traditional game will be hosted by MOBY Group.

The officials responsible for the league said that the competition is aimed at restoring the traditional Afghan games on a national and regional level.  

“We are trying to develop the regional local league of Ghorsai--the game requires strong physical ability--and to pave the way for all youth who can participate in this competition, and we will hold this game at the level of Asia and at an international level,” said Qais Nawabi, an organizer of the league.  

Athletic officials welcomed the start of the league.  

“We hope to be able to hold the Ghorsai game at a national level within the format of the General Directorate of Physical Education and Sport of Afghanistan,” said Dad Mohammad Payanda Akhtari, head of the General Directorate of Physical Education and Sport of Afghanistan.  

Ghorsai is a traditional game that has many fans across Afghanistan.  

The game is played by youth without referees or standardized rules in different formats in various provinces of the country. It involves balancing on foot and trying to knock over one's opponents.   

The league hosted by MOBY Group will pave the way for a standard format of the game which will be played among eight zones. 

The coaches of Ghorsai believe that if the game is supported it will extend to a regional level.  

“The founder of the Ghorsai league is MOBY Group’s TOLO TV channel, and the credit must go to MOBY Group’s TOLO,” said Najibullah Hamdard, a coach. 

The players welcomed the competition and said they hope the game will be held on an international level.  

“We hope these games will become international and we will have good players,” said Khalid Noori, a member of the Da Shamshad Nangiali team.  

“We thank TOLO and LEMAR TV channels for hosting such a competition,” said Mirwais, a member of the Da Shamshad Nangiali team. 

The game will be played among the teams of Shiran Asman, Mubarizan Jaihon, Delawaran Alburz, Shujaan Kunduz, Shamshad Nangiali, Da Paktiani Zarawar, Da Bost Atalan and Mardan Harirod.
