Students Concerned Over Unknown Time of Kankor Exam

Students in Kabul are concerned regarding the unknown times of the kankor university entrance exam.

The Ministry of Higher Education said the kankor exam will be delayed this year.

Hassan Ullah, who graduated from high school, said that it has been five years that he has been away from his family in Andrab, and he came to Kabul and has faced many challenges to study for the kankor exam.

“I came from my home in Andrab to Kabul so I could study for the kankor and gain entrance to my favorite department, but the Islamic Emirate postponed the kankor exam, and this made us hopeless,” said Hassan Ullah, a student.

The fact that the kankor exam time is still not posted is unacceptable, said the students.

“(I must) take the kankor exam to make our future and serve our society as a doctor and teacher,” said Safiya, a student.

Meanwhile, one of the officials from a kankor exam preparation center said that since the political change, students have lost their educational motivation and the number of students at the center decreases day by day.

“If the kankor exam is not held as we hope it will be held, students will be unmotivated and it may cause them to leave the country,” said Salim Hashmi, course manager.

The kankor exam usually starts in Hoot month in the warm climate provinces and the results of the exam are announced in the month of Sunbulah.

The students say their biggest goals are to build the future and reach their desired fields after graduating from school.
