Kabul Women Hold Demonstration in Wake of School Attack

A number of women held a demonstration in the Pul-e-Sokhta area of Kabul to protest the Friday attack on Kaaj educational center that left dozens of students killed and wounded.

The protestors called on the United Nations to not remain quiet about this issue.

“We call on the UN to not be silenct and to hear our voice,” said Razia, a protestor.

“We call on the Islamic Emirate to provide security for women, particularly Hazara girls. Enough is enough,” said Wida, a protestor.

“The girls’ educational centers are being attacked. The Islamic Emirate should answer for why the security is not ensured,” said Fatima Mohammadi, a protestor.

Meanwhile, the Kabul security department said that the demonstration should be held in coordination with the security departments.

“Those who launch demonstrations, they should coordinate their location and time with the security department, so we can provide security in the area,” said Khalid Zadran, a spokesman for the Kabul security department.

Videos on social media show some students at the Kabul Education University protesting the blast.

“The blast at the educational center affects the morale of the students about going to their universities and classes,” said Farddin Ayar, a university instructor.

The Ministry of Interior confirmed the deaths of 25 people in the blast, saying that around 31 others received injuries.
