Fires Damage 2 Malls in Kote-e-Sangi Area of Kabul

Ahmadi and Abasin Zadran malls caught fire in the Kote-e-Sangi area in Kabul.

The fire started at the Ahmadi mall and then flames reached the Abasin Zadran mall.

Some shopkeepers said that their shops were completely destroyed and they have lost tens of thousands of dollars.

“We have a shop in Zadran mall, and we invested 30,000 dollars in that, then our neighbor mall Ahmadi caught fire and reached our mall (Zadran) and except for two bottom floors all other floors have been destroyed,” said Farzad, a shopkeeper.

Some shopkeepers said the reason for the fire was an electrical short and the fire continued for hours and for that reason shopkeepers lost everything.

“We have two shops in this mall, and we invested 35,000 dollars and we borrowed this money from shopkeepers of Pakistan and India,” said Omar Hassan Khil, a shopkeeper.

“There are some people that started their business with borrowed money ... before this we had an electrical short in the market but nobody paid attention to that and today it caught fire,” said Habibiullrahman, a shopkeeper.

Previously, in 1395, there was a fire in Abasin Zadran and shopkeepers said there were damages of $7 million.
