Pakistan's FM: Kabul Should 'Take Effective Actions Against Terrorism'

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan said that the current government of Afghanistan should take effective steps against terrorism.

This Pakistani official also emphasized the need to uphold human rights in Afghanistan.

“It is also our hope that the Afghan authorities would be responsive to the expectations of the Afghan community regarding respect for human rights, inclusivity and to take effective actions against terrorism,” Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Pakistan's foreign minister said.

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Pakistan's foreign minister, in a meeting in Germany said that the economic situation of Afghanistan is concerning and that the international community should cooperate with Afghans in this regard.

“On the issue of Afghanistan, I would like to highlight the grave humanitarian situation being faced by the forty million Afghan people. The International community needs to work together to help the people of Afghanistan,” Zardari said.

"By pointing fingers at extremism and terrorism, Pakistan is pursuing two aims. The first is that it wants to say that Afghanistan is the center of terrorism and extremism, while the opposite is true,” international relations expert Sayed Javad Sajadi.

"They should develop and carry out a long-term plan to combat terrorism that is appropriate for Afghanistan's circumstances," said Assdullah Nadim, a military expert.

Meanwhile, the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, in response to the statements of Pakistan's foreign minister, said that no group will be allowed to use Afghanistan's soil against other countries.

"We seriously stand against people and groups who seek war or wish to create a threat from Afghanistan's soil, and no one will be allowed to use Afghanistan's soil against anyone,” said Zabiullah Mujahid, spokesman of the Islamic Emirate.
