A large gathering was held to celebrate the Milad-e-Nabi (Birthday of the Prophet Muhammad) in Kabul.

The participants of the gathering --most of whom were Islamic clerics--stressed that Islam is a peaceful religion.

"When we test the flavor of Islam, we should love Allah, and Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), but unfortunately it is not like that now,"  said Mawlawi Abdul Qadir Qamat, head of the Kabul Ulema Council.

The participants said that Islam has brought the message of justice, kindness and human rights to the world.

"When Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was given the message of being a  prophet, the world then was plunged into blindness," said Qari Rahmatullah, an Islamic cleric.

"When we hear the biography of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), it brings reforms in our life," said Mufti Shams Rahman Farotan, an Islamic cleric.

Prophet Muhammad was born in April 570 CE in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, and became a prophet at the age of 40. Mohammad led the people for 23 years and died at the age of 63.
