Mujahid: Afghanistan Will Keep Neutral Stance Toward Regional Countries

An Islamic Emirate once again stressed that it has chosen to remain neutral in relation to regional countries.

A gathering under the title of “challenges and opportunities for regional connectivity” was held on Wednesday at the Arg (Presidential Palace).

Speaking at the gathering, the Islamic Emirate’s spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid said that Afghanistan must maintain a clear policy.

“This policy should endure. This policy should be protected and supported. We should preserve this neutral stance for a long time. If our policy is one-sided, then the path will be paved for foreigners’ interference and the opportunities which we now have will be eliminated,” he said.

Addressing the same gathering, the 2nd Deputy Prime Minister Mullah Abdul Salam Hanafi said that Afghanistan can play an important role in regional connectivity.

“The role of Afghanistan is very important and strategic for regional connectivity. Afghanistan is considered the hub of Asia,” he said.

The gathering was attended by several representatives of regional countries.

Some researchers at the Academy of Science of Afghanistan said that the situation in Afghanistan is important for regional connectivity.

“It is a geopolitical location,” said Abdul Sabor Mubariz, a member of the Academy of Science of Afghanistan.

A resolution issued at the end of the gathering suggested that Afghanistan should remain neutral in its regional policy and engage into joint markets with the neighboring countries.
