Ministry for Disaster Management: 90% of Citizens Need Help

The State Ministry for Disaster Management said that 90 percent of the citizens of Afghanistan need aid.

The acting minister for Disaster Management added that as the first step, they will help those families which were affected by the most recent flooding in the country.

“For people who lost their houses, we will provide food materials and other living needs, but for poor people, we will provide just food materials,” said Mohammad Abas Akhund, acting State Minister for Natural Disaster.

Meanwhile, officials of this ministry started the distribution help process for three thousand families.

“For now, we distribute to their shelters and the distribution process is continuing,” said Mohammad Khoshhal Zamani, head of the Disaster Management Department in Kabul.

Meanwhile, some families who have benefited from the aid said it is not enough.

“It helped me here, a sack of wheat, my fare is five hundred Afghani, what should we do with this wheat from foreign countries, I request the government and foreign governments to increase aid to us,” said Muhab Ullah, a helped person.

“We are 15 people in our family, and they just helped us with one sack of wheat and that is not enough for us,” said Naqeebullah.

According to the Ministry for Disaster Management, in the past year, more than 1,500 have died and 20,000 houses have been destroyed in natural disasters.
