‘We Should Not Monopolize Govt’: Acting Interior Minister

On the 10th anniversary of the death of Islamic Emirate founder Mullah Mohammad Omar Mujahid, acting Interior Minister Sirajuddin Haqqani said that the government should not be a monopoly that only individuals from religious seminaries are involved in, and he said everyone should be part of the government.

Haqqani said that the government was not established to save only "ourselves" but it was established to rescue the country.

“I say we should not monopolize the government and make it small so that only individuals from our religious seminaries see themselves involved in it. Everyone is part of this government,” he said.

“The government was not established to save only ourselves but it was established to rescue the country. To save the country, Almighty Allah in the presence of Mullah sahib (Mohmmad Omar Mujahid) created this government. I believe, and I am sure, that if he was alive he would not think to have only around five of our friends (a few individuals) providing service here with us and that others would not be part of the government.”

Speaking at the same event, acting Minister of Defense Mawlawi Mohmmad Yaqoob Mujahid said that the “enemies” always try to create distance between the people and the government and therefore they produce false propaganda.

He said that the nation should not be misled by the propaganda from those circles who want Afghanistan to not have an independent and unified government.

Second Deputy PM Abdul Salam Hanafi said that Mullah Omar put an end to the tensions at that time and stressed the need for peace.

“The Islamic Emirate is not intending to interfere in others’ affairs, and we want the same from the others-- to not interfere in the internal issues of Afghanistan,” he said.

Mullah Omar died in 1392 (solar year) and was buried in Zabul.
