Companies Interested in Jawzjan Natural Gas: Minister

The acting Minister of Mines and Petroleum (MoMP), Shahabuddin Delawar, said that many companies have expressed readiness to invest in gas mines in Jawzjan province.

Delawar, who recently made a visit to the northern province of Jawzjan, told TOLOnews that plans are underway to launch projects to design natural gas wells.

“We are intending to establish electric power and establish wells. Many companies have inquired. But we want to find a good contract. This is the future of the country,” Delawar said.

This comes as some residents of Jawzjan said that they are facing economic hardship while many mines exist in the province that can benefit both the government and people.

“Our countrymen should find a job—all the elderly, youth, men and women,” said Jora Boy, a resident of Jawzjan.

“We call on the Islamic Emirate to work on the mining sector and provide job opportunities for the citizens,” said Ahmad Faisal, a resident of Jawzjan.

According to the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum, the investment in natural gas will facilitate the production of 1,500 megawatts of power, along with creating many jobs.
