Afghan students who succeeded to study in Indian universities complained that New Delhi has not issued their visas to attend classes in India.

Some of these students interviewed by TOLOnews said that the Indian government stopped issuing visas for Afghan students after the fall of the former government.

Ibrahim Nazerpour, a lecturer at Kabul university, said that he was studying for a Ph.D. in India.

“In 2021, due to Covid-19 and also because my instructor asked me to collect further research, I came to Afghanistan. The political changes happened here and after that India invalidated our visas,” he said.

The students urged the interim government to consider their problems.

“We call on the Islamic Emirate to clarify our destiny and give us a visa and help us to get back to India, said Shirzad, a student.

Meanwhile, Islamic Emirate spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid said they are in contact with Indian officials.

“There is a problem with the issuance of Indian visas. We have talked to them many times to facilitate this because some patients and our traders as well as our students are going to study there. This problem has been created by them and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is in contact to find a solution for this issue,” he said.

After the Islamic Emirate came to power, India closed its embassy in Afghanistan and halted the distribution of visas.
