The Pakistan Foreign Minister, Jalil Abbas Jilani, called on the interim Afghan government to suppress terrorist groups, including the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
Jailani said that they have summoned the Islamic Emirates ambassador in Islamabad after the attacks in Chitral district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
“This is the responsibility of the government in Afghanistan to prevent any attack from their soil on Pakistan. Thus, we expect the Afghan government to suppress all militia elements whether they are TTP or other groups. The fundamental point is that they are operating from Afghanistan and terrorist incidents happen inside Pakistan,” Jilani said.
But the Islamic Emirate once again reiterated that there will be no threat from Afghan soil to foreign nations.
“Pakistan's internal problems are its internal problems which belong to them, and their root and reasons should be investigated in Pakistan,” said Bilal Karimi, deputy spokesman for the Islamic Emirate.
Kiyya Baloch, a Baluchistan-focused writer, in a paper published online for the Jamestown Foundation said, “two years since the Taliban takeover of Kabul, Pakistani officials have failed to anticipate the impact that the Taliban’s control of Afghanistan would have on Pakistan’s security situation, particularly in the troubled southwestern province of Baluchistan and northern province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).”
“Pakistan once again is experiencing a wave of killings, bombings, suicide attacks, and targeted assaults on the police, army, and government officials. Its southwestern and northern provinces that border Afghanistan are reeling from devastating militant attacks.”
The Islamic Emirate has repeatedly rejected official Pakistani claims that Kabul is aiding terrorists who are attacking Pakistan.
“Their ideology is not the same as the Islamic Emirate. That is a group which is fighting for the Baloch nationals and wants independence for Baluchistan. It is an issue of 40 to 50 years which began with the establishment of Pakistan,” said Abdul Jabir Shirani, political analyst.
Earlier, the Pakistan Prime Minister, Anwarul-Haq Kakar, said that the military equipment remaining from foreign troops in Afghanistan is being used in attacks in Pakistan.
