Abdul Bari Omar, acting Director of Food and Drug Administration on Monday at a news conference said that he had traveled to Europe on an official invitation.
His trip has caused many reactions in recent days.
“I had an official membership based on an invitation to an official trip to participate in a meeting that was held in the Netherlands, and another issue is how an illegal person can illegally participate in an international conference?” Omar said.
Meanwhile, the US House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman has also said that the trip of a "Taliban" official to European countries is not acceptable.
Michael Mccaul, the US House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman wrote on X: “The international community must stand together in enforcing and expanding travel bans for Taliban members. This is unacceptable,”
“Imposing restrictions and obstacles only hurts the people of Afghanistan, it never hurts the Taliban officials and the ruling system. Again, these trips are made to Moscow,
Arab countries, Iran and Pakistan, and they go back and forth,” said Aziz Maarej, former Afghan diplomat.
Earlier, the German Foreign office said on X about Abdul Bari Omar's visit and speech in the city of Cologne that Germany will not establish normal relations with the Taliban until they respect human rights, especially the rights of women and girls.
