The chief of staff of the deputy Prime Minister for Political Affairs in his meeting with UNAMA officials called for the removal of sanctions and for engagement with the Islamic Emirate, the Islamic Emirate’s spokesman said.
Zabiullah Mujahid told TOLOnews that Mawlawi Zakir discussed various issues with the director of political affairs at UNAMA, Scott Smith.
According to Mujahid, Smith said that an international conference on the Afghan situation is expected to be held soon.
“In this meeting, Afghanistan also gave a message that we are ready to discuss the agenda, but in general there should be an engagement because it is important,” he said.
Javid Momand, political analyst, said that the presence of a representative from Afghanistan in the upcoming UN meeting will be beneficial for the country.
“If they share the challenges from close, it could help to resolve the problems,” he said.
“The Islamic Emirate should observe the legitimate calls of the international community and form an inclusive government based on the wishes of the people including women and girls’ access to education and work,” said Najib Rahman Shamal, political analyst.
Meanwhile, the deputy PM's office said the Islamic Emirate is seeking to reduce the level of poverty and that the UN and the international community should help in this regard.
