Acting Interior Minister Sirajuddin Haqqani met with UNAMA head Roza Otunbayeva, and discussed the efforts of the Ministry of Interior in the field of security and the fight against drugs as well the deportation of Afghan refugees from Pakistan, the Interior Ministry said in a statement.
According to the statement, Otunbayeva said that she met with the “representatives of different countries and all of them agree that for the purpose of combating drugs and treating drug addicts, in addition to vocational training, necessary facilities should be provided to farmers for alternative livelihood.”
Haqqani was quoted in the statement as saying that the interim Afghan government has created the necessary facilities for the returning refugees in various areas and assigned the task to various committees made up of employees from different departments in order to manage the affairs in an orderly manner.
He also stressed the importance of peace and stability in Afghanistan, saying that the Islamic Emirate has taken necessary steps to treat its neighbors in a true and honest manner.
“Haqqani also emphasized that past problems and shortcomings should not be linked to the Islamic Emirate and also domestic issues of neighboring countries should not cause problems for Afghan refugees living abroad,” the statement reads.
