Ministry: 200 New Schools Established in Past Two Years

The Ministry of Education announced the construction of two hundred schools in the last two years by the current government across the country.

The spokesperson of the ministry said that during this period, in addition to the construction of two hundred schools, they have also made buildings for nearly 1,000 other schools throughout the country.

“According to the educational progress policy of the Ministry of Education, we want to provide educational services for students in every corner of the country, and the schools that are not repaired or need to be renovated, the Ministry of Education is trying to address these problems,” said Mansoor Ahmad Hamza, an official of the ministry.

Meanwhile, some students complained about the lack of school repair and suitable space for education in some areas of Kabul.

“The obligations that have been made for us in the field of providing chairs, tables, and teachers have not been fulfilled so far. The weather here is cold in winter and hot in summer,” said Freshta, a student.

"Our exams were spent under the burning sun, and now the annual exams are taking place in the cold, and we request that a building be made for us,” said Nelab, a student.

Some teachers who are teaching in the school as volunteers said that not having a suitable space for teaching has made some students hate learning.

“Many people come here out of necessity and most of these students dropped out of school and are now working in the market because they think that there is no value in education,” said Hekmatullah, a student.

“The school was officially established in the previous government, where they gave us two teachers and the same teachers are still teaching here, and we have around 600-700 students,” said Noor Wali Wakil, a community leader.

According to the statistics of the Ministry of Education, there are currently more than 18,000 schools across the country.
